Here in México the Cempasuchitl flower (cempasúchil, sempaˈsut͡ʃil/, [sẽm.paˈsu.t͡ʃil]) has a lot of uses in Día de Muertos festivities, but in ancient Aztec mythology the vibrant color of cempasúchil was said to represent the sun, which guides the spirits on their way to the Mictlán, the Aztec Underwolrd.
